The aim of the MENTEA mentoring programme is to help young refugees with a secondary school leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss) or training maturity enter a dual education programme or a job. The young people are supervised by experienced volunteer mentors. Each mentor uses her or his professional networks to support a mentee in finding out about the German jobs market, in searching for an apprenticeship/job or an internship. The mentors also represent an important source of information about the world of work in Germany and can help raise the motivation levels of participants.

The project takes one year, with the active project phase running from September to June. Both mentees and mentors take part in reflection events. Additional training is provided to mentees on topics such as job applications and self-presentation.
A further round began in September with 12 mentoring tandems.

The project was initiated in 2017 by the following Rotary Clubs: Frankfurt/M. Friedensbrücke, Frankfurt/M. Städel and Frankfurt/M. International. The first round was financed by the Rotary Clubs and the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration.
